John Doolittle, reed player extraordinaire. Today at the rehearsal, I gave him some blank manuscript paper forms that I copied for Joe Benson, who's in jail and will have lots of time to compose now. At the break, John and I went to Starbuck's and he told me of his plans for when he retires from teaching music prep.

He's going to get lots of attention with those three antennae sticking out of his head . . . why is the one on the right darker than the other two?
