My keyboard for LEGALLY BLONDE

All the sounds come from the laptop at the left... using the Mainstage section of Apple's music software Logic.

Southside spaceship

Before the Mime Troupe show, I hadn't been in Southside Park in twenty years. The city has made many improvements, and the neighborhood has gentrified. Right next to the duck pond is this amazing spaceship sculpture that has flashing neon lights.

Picasa 3.5 can find faces in your photos

And then you can make a collage like this out of them.

Rockin' out at the Elks

I played with a band at the Elks Club this afternoon. Opening for us was a guy singing with prerecorded tracks. Mostly they were standards, but he threw in this version of “Proud Mary.”

We saw the San Francisco Mime Troupe tonight

Their show Too Big to Fail was typically tuneful and biting. “Bringing down capitalism one musical comedy at a time.” I bought two T-shirts too. The audience was mostly old hippies who are now state workers.

The Elks Lodge has a special parking place for an organist

The other side of the sign says Exalted Leader.

If anyone sees this...

...please email me. I left it on the sidewalk, went into the dry cleaner for a minute, and then when I came out again it was gone. It has great sentimental value.

Always travel with spare gas

This van parked in front of Espresso Metro had gas cans (labelled DIESEL) strapped to the roof. The owner drove off smoking a long cigarette.

Little Boba

Today I took part in the Great American River Clean-Up. In two hours, I think I picked up about a thousand cigarette butts.
I also found this little cut-out man. I'm pretty sure it's Boba Fett from Star Wars.

Bye Bye Baby!

A customer gave me this copy of an old San Francisco Giants fight song. (The first rule of fight songs is that you don't talk about fight songs.)

Dave Brubeck at the Radisson

I tuned for Dave Brubeck at the Radisson today. Probably my last chance to see him play live. I had fun hanging with the stage crew in the hotel room. Pizza and Gatorade! Vertical Drop on the television! Then I saw John Doolittle in the audience and I sat behind him for the show. He was with Buddy Harpham, who if you read my blog a lot you will remember leads a band that I play in sometimes and went to college with Dave Brubeck.

Longest driveway I've ever seen

Seriously, this driveway was over a mile long (they have a commercial vineyard).

An angel candleholder

In a customer's house. It reminds me of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, but with all the body parts.

Cartoon in a textbook

I'm going to have a cartoon in another psychology textbook. But this time I have a nice preview of the page, which you can see here.

My chalk square

This is Karen Jetter filling in some of the blue at the bottom of the Peace Corps square at Chalk It Up! I was lucky to pick a square that was in shade all day. The design worked well, my neighbors were great, I ran into several former Volunteers, the live music was beautiful.

Grand Island Mansion

I played a wedding at the Grand Island Mansion tonight. One of my favorite places to play, and the owners keep fixing it up more and more. It makes me think of Gatsby.

I love tuning at the UC Davis Co-op

...a hippie house where they raise bees, chickens, and cats. This is a vehicle parked nearby.

Song of Sereno

These music and lyrics are on the wall in the Sereno dormitory at UC Davis.
