A customer of mine got this painting in Bahrain while serving in the Navy. Apparently there are quite a number of Christians in Bahrain. The nun herself is rendered quite skillfully in a thin layer of paint, while the brick wall is done in a fairly aggressive impasto. I wouldn't be surprised if two different artists worked on this painting.
The customer couldn't tell me if this depicted a specific saint. Anyone know?

Sr. Mary Ba Rain?

Saint Tuppence?

. . . or: Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament -
The Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament were founded in Lyons, France, in 1625. The Community, originally cloistered, was suppressed during the French Revolution and re-established in 1832. The first American community was established in 1852, when Lyons Convent sent five sisters to Brownsville, Texas. The cloister was lifted in 1913, and numerous missions and schools have been founded since.

- colors are nearly right anyway.
