Today we went to San Francisco to celebrate our 22nd anniversary! We drove straight to the Embarcadero and the Ferry Building, which has been turned into a fancy food court. The architecture inside and out is fantastic. We went to a seafood place where the food was just okay. But the surroundings were amazing.
After that, we went to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. I had just been there a year before, and was mildly impressed. But this time I was amazed. It is truly a world-class museum. Their new exhibitions are truly up-to-the-moment, and their permanent collection hits all the right notes as well as including some pretty famous pieces.
Did I mention that it was pouring rain and we got soaked? Also, the spaces in the parking garage were ridiculously small. I don't need that kind of challenge.
I don't know how much longer cars can exist in American cities. We may have to ban them from city centers and build enormous parking lots around the perimeter.
After that, we went to our bed-and-breakfast on Washington Square. Really cute and expensive. But free newspapers, cable, snacks, coffee, wine, and Wi-Fi. That counts for something!
