Last night I went to Sacramento's only remaining jazz venue (and it's only on Sunday night) to see my friend Doug Pauly (on guitar, left). The singer, Maleva, has a great cabaret-type persona and in fact has done musical theater with people I know. Before that, she was the head dresser at Music Circus! So of course I sent a picture of her to my favorite dresser, Rachel. Posted by Hello

OK, I feel spanked for my hipness level - I don't know the name of the venue (what is it?) or the identity of the players.

I am holding a salon wherin you will be pleasantly persuaded to divulge these bits of information.

BTW: is "maleva" Amnaldusian for "bad-ass woman"?

BTW: Sacramento club owners seem to have voted financially for one venue, on a Sunday night (queue crickets), AND (you leave out, perhaps knowingly?) on a stage the size of my dining room table - they could introduce the players by placesetting.

As of today, Jan. 21, there is yet another jazz venue in Sac. -- well, it's Granite Bay, actually. But I see that Doug and Maleva will be performing there on Sat., Jan. 26th. The place is a restaurant called TOAST in the upscale shopping center called Quarry Ponds on Douglas Blvd. It's about 2 miles east of the Sierra College Blvd. intersection. Good food there, and how wonderful they support LIVE MUSIC 5 days a week!

Wow... you comment on a post from almost three years ago?
Were you searching for posts about Maleva?
Toast is indeed a beautiful place. I've played there.
Kind of far to drive, though.
